Window grill design for your home

Window grills are very essential to the security of your home. While interior trends are now moving towards windows without grills, there are many who still feel the need for the security of barred windows. Moreover, if you have a toddler in your home, having window grills is very important. The good news is that you dont have to compromise on the aesthetics of your windows. Nowadays you can come up with your own window grill design and companies will customize them for you. You also get a whole range of window grills in various materials and design.

Dont stay limited to the usual bars or squares that used to
be popular decades ago. Think out of the box when it comes to window grill design. You now have window grills that come in unlimited shapes and treatments. For example, you could have concentric circles, floral designs, the sun, a tree or anything that captures your imagination. Therefore these window grills are also known as decorative window grills.

Its important to choose the right kind of design in the right material for your home. If you have Art Deco designer furniture, choose window grills in geometric patterns such as circles, squares or even regular bars. If you have classical furniture, choose window grills that are more ornate.

If you have French windows, consider window grills which give you an effect called True Divided Light. Here, the grill forms squares in which individual pieces of glass are placed. This lets in enough light and a view without compromising on security. Moreover, if one of the glass pieces breaks, you only need to replace that piece without replacing the entire pane.

Another type of window grill is the between the glass one. Here, the grill is placed between two sheets of glass. This aids in easy cleaning of the glass and the grill does not collect dust either. At the same time, the grill provides the necessary security.

Popular materials for window grills include wrought iron and stainless steel. They both lend themselves to molding and shaping and are also sturdy. They are a good choice if decoration and protection are what youre looking for. Steel especially looks good with contemporary designs. You may have notice steel paired with glass in modern balconies, fireplaces and windows.

Whenever you choose a design, make sure its one that can easily be removed during an emergency and that the material is durable and easy to clean. Try and buy dust-proof and termite proof UPVC windows, so your grills are protected from all the grime and you dont have to spend too much time cleaning them.

Curtains or drapes:
You may use curtains or drapes in many windows.  Usually drapes are made of heavy fabric and are more formal than curtains. They are pleated and are crowned by a cornice and have cords to draw them. This provides a more formal and aesthetic look whereas curtains are less formal and simpler than drapes. Curtains can be gathered or ruffled. The curtain rod is often decorative and part of the overall look of the window. Sheer lace curtains are often used in combination with drapes, to allow more light to enter the room while maintaining privacy. Curtains remains the most popular choice of window treatments, since framing any window in fabric provides both aesthetic appeal and functionality.
