The Easy Steps To Clean A Refrigerator

The freezer tends to be one of the most neglected areas of the house. Because it stays so cold, it is not as quick to stink as the fridge can be. The problem with this is that when we do get around to cleaning it, it’s usually grossly overdue. Here’s how to take care of it without ruining your whole afternoon.

Empty Your Fridge

First, empty your fridge and remove as many shelves and drawers. Dispose all the old foods you don’t need, clean up right away.

Soap The Interior

Giving your refrigerator a good scrub is essential, as it removes all the bad odors that microorganism produce. Use any all-purpose cleaning solution and put it in a spray bottle, or make a solution of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 quart of warm water.

Clean The Shelves And Drawers

Next, make some soapy water and use a microfiber cloth and non-scratching sponge to clean the shelves and drawers.

Clean The Interior

Now continue with the interior of the fridge. Start at the top and work your way down with a wet microfiber cloth, removing the cleaning solution. To keep your refrigerator smell nice longer, you can add some vanilla extract or (dark) vinegar on a paper towel and wipe the plastic lining of the fridge.

Put It Back Together

Dry all the shelves, drawers and the interior of the refrigerator with a soft towel and place them back into the fridge. Before putting back all your foods, wipe the jars and bottles clean as well, to prevent them from transferring some bad odors.
