House Paint Benefits

House paint can seem to be a really tedious and complex task which frequently requires days of scheduling, budgeting and planning. Only one thing about house paint is extremely true and that is, it is more often than not very rewarding and you can have a place with a new look and fresh appeal altogether.

Ceramic house paint is really a term used to describe a liquid paintlike formula that's sprayed on such exterior house surfaces as siding, brick and stucco. It was initially developed in the 1970s but received scrutiny early this century when some companies made extraordinary claims about its insulating properties. Since that time the Federal Trade Commission has ruled against Kryton Coatings International regarding the coating's insulation value.

Ceramic coatings are acrylic paints with ceramic microspheres. Based on Rhino Shield, 3M developed the solid element of its product that gives it more protection against harmful ultraviolet rays as well as heat than regular house paint as well as reduces the transference of heat from the outside in to the house in the summer and from heat escaping during the cold months.

Liquid Ceramic says the actual Painter's Institute categorizes it as an "exterior high end elastomeric coating." It looks and tints like paint.

Kinds of Interior House Paint Finishes

Flat (or matte) paint absorbs light, passing on a muted or dull appearance. This will make it ideal for covering up imperfections or flaws on the surface, such as noticeable drywall seams or nail pops. Flat paint may also be used to smooth over a textured surface, like a plaster wall. However, flat paint isn't very durable, and won't endure any kind of vigorous cleaning. Actually, if you choose to paint with flat paint, it is best to keep an extra pint on hand for that occasional touch-up. Flat paint is most effective for ceiling, or for walls in rooms with virtually no traffic.

Satin (or eggshell) paint lies somewhere in the centre between flat and glossy, having a smooth, understated sheen. It will an adequate job of concealing imperfections, and it is durable enough to stand as much as some occasional cleaning. Satin paint is perfect for higher-traffic areas, such as hallways, living rooms, or bedrooms.

Semi-gloss and high-gloss paint reflects light, passing on a bright, shiny finish. It's resistant to stains and dirt, capable to stand up to hard scrubbing at the appropriate interval. This makes semi-gloss and high-gloss paints well suited for high traffic areas that accumulate lots of dirt and grime, such as kitchens and bathrooms. Due to the bright sheen, this type of interior house paint will in fact accentuate surface flaws, instead of cover them up.

Benefits

One benefit of ceramic paint could it be creates a thicker coating. Paint coatings are measured in DFTs, which means dry film thickness. Ceramic paints measure 10 mils, while regular paint is 3 mils.

Liquid Ceramic claims that whenever two coats of its product, it's impervious to water. Because moisture is paint's nemesis, this is a substantial benefit. Each company offers different warranties. Ceramic Force by Nationwide Coatings provides a 15-year limited warranty.
